“Terra!” (Land!) is what a crew of monkeys shouts at the sight of the moon, just before landing their spaceship on it to roam and explore the satellite’s craters and seas.
This is the image behind the first album of “Le Scimmie sulla Luna”, produced by LA RIVOLTA RECORDS with the support of Puglia Sounds. Risen from the ashes of Teenage Riot, a band which in recent years had many a success playing all across the peninsula, Le Scimmie sulla Luna, from Lecce, made a record which tastes international and experimental.
The sound of the band is a balance of tight rhythms and grooves that wink at funk, math and post-rock: hypnotic guitars seem to turn into synthesizers, moving from lively and melodic riffs to experimental contortions through massive use of delays and synth pedals. The goal of the band is to find the contact point of different musical genres and approaches, emphasizing and at the same time going beyond the dichotomy between what is “rock” and what is not.
The album, after one year of writing, was recorded and produced by Paolo del Vitto at “Laboratori Musicali”, Trepuzzi (LE).
Le Scimmie sulla Luna are: Cristiano Metrangolo (guitar), Stefano Greco (bass), Jory Stifani (guitars, synth), Luca Greco (drums).

“Terra!” è l'urlo di un equipaggio di scimmie appena sbarcate con un'astronave sulla luna, dove vagheranno per esplorare crateri e mari (come i titoli dei pezzi che compongono l'album).
Da questa immagine nasce il primo album de Le Scimmie sulla Luna, prodotto da La Rivolta Records con il sostegno di Puglia Sounds. La band leccese, che nasce dalle ceneri dei Teenage Riot, formazione che si era tolta parecchie soddisfazioni in tutta la penisola, ha realizzato un album strumentale dal sapore internazionale e sperimentale.
Il loro sound è un riuscito equilibrio tra ritmiche serrate e groove che spaziano dal math al post-rock, passando per il funk: chitarre ipnotiche che sembrano mutare in sintetizzatori, passando da riff freschi e melodici a contorsioni effettistiche sperimentali tra delay e synth. L'obbiettivo de Le Scimmie è quello di cercare un punto di contatto tra generi e approcci musicali differenti, enfatizzando e al tempo stesso superando la dicotomia tra ciò che è rock e ciò che non lo è.
L’album, dopo un anno di scrittura e stesura dei brani, è stato realizzato e prodotto da Paolo Del Vitto presso gli studi dei “Laboratori Musicali” di Trepuzzi (LE).
